About Our HSC Maths Tutoring

TutorTree offers small-group HSC Maths tutoring for students in Year 10, 11, and 12 across Sydney and online. Our sessions run for 2 hours every week — long enough to actually get through content, short enough to stay focused. We cover Maths Standard, Maths Advanced, Maths Extension 1, and Maths Extension 2, with a strong emphasis on understanding concepts rather than memorising procedures.

Our Approach

The most important skill for students to learn is setting goals and achieving them. We guide students by helping them to plan ahead, to stick to their plan, and to reflect on how to do even better next time. Our goal is to make sure the student knows which direction to go, and then to get out of their way. We provide two hours of weekly guided study to help students develop the skills they need to be lifelong independent learners and achievers.

How We Teach HSC Maths

We work through concepts from first principles, then apply them to past HSC questions. Students see the same problem types from different angles — which is exactly how the exam tests understanding. First we ensure students understand what's going on in class right now. Then we will keep an eye out for any problems which might be caused by earlier content they never mastered. We will guide students to fill those gaps, setting them up to feel confident, engage with the content and excel in class.

Students who regularly attend develop time management skills, study habits and an ability to reflect honestly on whether they're studying effectively or not.
